Even though we have one car, two never make sense for us. zipcar is one of those things that essentially gives us second car capacity without a lot of the additional cost. Plus we can drive much nicer cars.

I finally got around to getting signed up with them a month or so ago and found their all-wheel-drive cars incredibly useful when Dr. Adrienne's little car didn't cut getting to the hopspital during Snowpocalypse08.

Since I had a couple of free hours to play with when I signed up (they have a promo code on their site) my first day as a member was spent running my errands in a BMW 328. :)

love this idea. we don't really need to amass more stuff around the house. one can now rent kid's toys as well. as quick as my son is burning thru toys, it makes perfect sense. hopefully more communiities and big brands can help further this movement.

I'm all about the 1960's suburban house, with the 70's brown chandeliers (gold metal trim), 80's flower print wall paper, 90's scuffed up pergo floors, and 2000's marble counter tops all rolled into one.... ohhh and I LOVE It when people turn the garage into a bedroom!

Best school playground memory. Giant stainless steel slide. Throw sand/dust on slide surface. Slide down standing up ala snowboard or ski-style. How we got away with that is beyond me...
Would never happen now. Most schools don't even have slides anymore. Or see-saws. And forget about merry go rounds.
But we have them all in our neighborhood YAY!

First off... It's true... Playgrounds are BORING. Take it from me, I'm an elementary teacher! Some time in the 90's someone rolled out the asphalt and now kids play on blacktop. What kids do on hard playground isn't entirely clearly anymore! I actually worked at a school where students where forbidden and "PUNISHED" for running... Yah RUNNING! Other rules included NOT pushing other people on the swings! Gone are the merry-go-rounds and the slides! Remember the slide!??? Fun-ness Unleashed! OR... (I almost forgot) the teeter-totter!??? ICONIC! What a sick world we live in!

People are too damn uptight! "Adults" that is! The school where I worked last year actually had a day where they taught the students how to play on the playground. Basically it was a 5 page document created for the teachers to monitor and enforce during recess. The students where told how and where they were to play all of the "approved" recess activities. That's GROSS!

I recently saw a middle school student quoted as saying "adults ruin everything." IT'S TRUE!

I NEVER buy books (they're FREE at the Library YO!), unless it's from a small Mom and Pop book shop (which are rare in USA)... Besides, I never know what to do with a bunch of books (ie College texts). I think people who buy and display all their Barns and Noble Fiction/Non are just trying to look learned and smart! We all know that's not true! FAKE!

Thanks for the link to trendhunter. Got a few good feeds from there. I'm trying to get familiarized with the trend-tracking landscape.

I also am a connoisseur of pens, though very simplistically. I just wonder if functionality actually sells. I always have med-pt bic 4-color in my pocket (no protector :-). I find the multiple colors to be the killer feature that few others seem to appreciate. Great for sketch designs and for marking up books. I have a really hard time finding them in any office store these days (though I have a good supply on stock at home).
