U.S. to get Smart

Daimler Chrysler is announcing that it will be importing the Smart Car to the U.S. beginning in 2007. While not altogether successful in Europe, the Smart Car adds a bit of whimsy to the roads. It also boasts getting up to 60 mpg. Marketplace observers wonder if Daimler can finally get a successful marketing strategy behind the little engine. They auto at least try.

i have to comment on the "they auto" phrase. very witty, and i'm not just saying.

so anyway. a little story for all of you. i was going over the italy france border a couple of years ago and there was a smart car dealer just on the italy side. very new, very different. (just like the product) the dispay floor was not like your typical auto display (and this is not a u.s. is so different thasn europe thing) that was the five or so different smart cars available stacked on top of each other, hoisted by some crane onto a giant metal girder structure. you could see the thing from miles. it was the biggest display of the smallest cars i had ever seen.

by the way, my friend egle says that they are unsafe on the highway, and i believe her.
